Aedan and the Giant Fish

Hi Daddy! Today has been a really long day for Mommy. Not for me so much because I can take naps in my seat all I want! Last night I cried again a lot of times and Mommy only slept for around 3 hours. So, today she took me to Dr. Sachs’ office. He wasn’t there so I had to wait for an hour and then see another doctor. The good news is that nothing is really wrong with me, just my teeth hurt really bad. Mommy is going to use Baby Motrin instead of Tylenol—it works better for pain. Let’s see how it goes tonight!

I had a great time in the office waiting for the doctor. I found that the paper on the table is a lot of fun to rip, tear, shred, and EAT! I was wild! You would have laughed really hard. I was so proud of myself when I threw it all on the floor! I also found that I like to play with trucks! I rolled them off the table and laughed when I did it.
Because I wasn’t feeling well, Mommy cancelled the music class. Luckily, Mommy’s friend Ruth called and asked if we wanted to go to the Long Beach Aquarium. So, we headed down to Long Beach and went inside. I was fascinated by the HUGE tanks with all the fish. Mommy even took me out and let me walk by the seals! But, then it became too much so I fell asleep. Mommy took me home so I could get a nap in the car.
I have new favorite toys. I love the blocks that Robert Bull got me for my Christening. I open them and throw the tops and then pick them up and dump out all the things inside! It’s a lot of fun! I also like to swing the tops around and then throw those. I think throwing things is my new favorite game. Hopefully I won't start throwing things AT Mommy. But, I did throw a box of tissues at Floyd today. Mommy got mad!

Mommy had me try a new food today- Purple Pears and beets. I was not sure what I thought of it at first, but then, as you can see, I started to like it. I especially liked to spread it all over the table and on my face and clothes. Maybe it will come out of my clothes with a stain remover- oops!

We also finally got a picture of the humming bird in its nest. I wish you were here so you could play with me. I miss you lots!

Midnight Rider...

Last night was one of the longest nights of both of our lives. It ended with a midnight ride of Princey Revere (Aedan James) to the Emergency Room, luckily we got half way there and he fell asleep. The crying and inconsolable wailing, writhing, an arching began at just after 1 in the morning. When he didn’t stop crying by 3:30, I called Dr. Sachs. I had tried everything- tylenol, gas relief, teething tablets. Nothing was helping and he seemed to be in agony. So, he suggested we go to the ER and if Aedan fell asleep then we could turn back around. So, that is what happened. However, 45 minutes later he woke up crying again.

I am thinking maybe he has a little cold or an ear infection. Maybe it is just the nasty teeth ripping through his gums. Grandma came with us on the ride because I was pretty upset. I was not looking forward to spending a Saturday night at the ER with a screaming infant. Luckily it didn’t end up that way. Today he has been pretty grumpy. Aedan has only taken two short naps and have been over all uncomfortable most of the day. I am beyond exhausted. Part of me feels like he is missing you too.

Tonight I am going to watch the LOST 2 hour ending! (I know you are beyond thrilled.) Hopefully Aedan will get some sleep during that time and let me get a few hours after. Tomorrow we have a big day because we are going to try out ToddleTunes for the first time. I am going to bring my camera and take photos of this to post on the blog. I understand that it is different from Kindermusik as it is live musicians. Hopefully we won’t be miserable!

Uncle Brendan is trying to fix the crib because it was recalled. Apparently it is ridiculous and annoying. He has been doing it for the last 2 hours. Right now Aedan is having dinner with grandma! I took some pictures so you could remember the lovely mess that is being made. I know how much you LOVE that! ;) Also, there is a cute little humming bird nest outside the living room window on the bells. I tried to take a photo but the humming bird flew away. Hopefully I can capture it for you when the bird is sitting inside! Love and miss you!

Someone doesn't want to sleep...

Hey Daddy! I have decided that since you are going to be staying up late, so am I! I refuse to sleep because I miss you. So, I am going to just play music. Everytime Mommy puts me in my bed I am going to cry my head off and get hysterical! Aren't you missing this fun? I watched your video of the stories you read to me. Everytime I looked up and saw you I smiled! I am glad you made me this so that I can see your face and hear your voice while you are gone.

Saying good-bye...

I hate having to say good-bye; I am really horrible at it. I start to freak out for about 2 months prior to the deployment and then after he is gone, I wish I hadn't of acted so crazy. This time was no exception and seemed to be worse because we now have a son. The last few days have been insane! We started out in Yuma, packing up our things and daddy, and then saying goodbye at MCAS Yuma.

Aedan and I were dropped off at the airport by our neighbors Karen and Robert. I tried not to cry too much because Aedan takes most of his cues from me and my actions and affect. So, once we go to Los Angeles on Wednesday night, we were both exhausted and got some rest. I was very surprised when Scott called at around 11:30PM to inform me that the ships boiler was broken and they would be in San Diego for the next few days!

Thursday afternoon we headed down to the ship at 32nd Street. Scott got off at 2:30 and we headed to old town San Diego for some food. But, how much can
you walk around with a 7 month old and no where to lay him down or change him? Luckily, Scott's friends Rachel and Jason allowed us to come and stay with them for the evening. (Scott had to go back on ship by midnight, but would be free again the next day.) At Rachel and Jay's Aedan met his first cat! A 12 week old kitten!

At first he was scared of this furry little creature that moved so quickly. But soon, they became friends! Aedan got excited when he saw the kitty and the kitty seemed pretty interested in him and his toys too! That night we didn't get very much sleep. I think it was all the traveling around and the instability. Maybe it was because I was stressed. Who knows.. The next morning, Rachel, Aedan and I had breakfast and then Jason came home from duty. We spent a few hours together before Scott arrived back at their house and then we went to lunch.

Lunch ended up totally traumatic! Aedan's little seat fell from it's hold on the table and he landed smack on his back on hard concrete! I was a case, as I am sure you can imagine. Scott was scared. Aedan was in hysterics, but we soon found that he was not injured, by the grace of God! Just a little bruise on his knee. He is a little trooper. However, I was shaky and very upset about it for the rest of the evening.

After lunch, we decided to take him to the park and put him on the swings and the slide for the first time! Aedan seemed to really enjoy the baby swings-- Especially when daddy was pushing him. They also went down the slide together. However, he wasn't too sure about that part of it yet!

It was nice to get some extra time together. Kind of annoying that he couldn't stay with us and had to sleep on the ship, but it is better than not seeing him at all. After our long afternoon and Aedan's nap, we went to dinner together as a family for the last time until he comes home. I was pretty sad and had a difficult time eating, but Daddy and Aedan didn't! They shared their last meal together and enjoyed every second of it. We love you, miss you, and are beyond proud of you.
